Stadtgeschichten City Series

Ein wenig Zeit bleibt noch, bevor die Ferien beginnen. Hier ein kleiner Einblick in meine Vorarbeiten zur Serie der Stadtgeschichten. Diese Fotos sind vom letzten Jahr, ich hoffe der Quilt wird in den nächsten Monaten fertig.

Encore quelques jours avant les vacances. Voici mon travail actuel, j'ai pris les photos l'année dernière et j'éspère de finir ce quilt en 2009.

A little bit time before holidays. Have a first view on my studies for my next quilt of the city series. I took these photos in the last year, I hope to finish the quilt in the next months.

Adventsschnee Snowtime

Die letzten Rosen trotzen dem Winter in unserem Garten. Les dernières roses au jardin d'hiver ce matin. The last roses in our garden.
Und unser Hund hat seine kindlichen (welpischen?) Seiten entdeckt. Notre chien joue comme un bébé, il aime courir comme un fou dans la neige. Our dog loves playing like a crazy puppy in the snow.
Winter is really a great inspiration!

Zufall und Komposition Komplexe Schichten Workshop Complex design

Ein wunderbares, arbeitsintensives Wochenende liegt hinter uns. Hier ein paar Fotos von den Ergebnissen.

The last weekend workshop in surface design, with really busy students! See some photos of the student works.

Wir arbeiteten mit Reaktivfarben in allen Variationen. Und weil das Papier im letzten Workshop so attraktiv war, arbeiteten wir auch dieses Wochenende damit. On a travaillé avec les peintures réactives en plusieures variations. Et comme le papier était tellement attractif dès le dernier cours, on travaillait aussi avec ce matériel ce weekend-ci. We worked with fiber-reactive dyes in several variations and all the complexity. Working with paper as in the last workshop was repeated this weekend too.

Farbe, Verdicker, Ideen und Schichten, ein ganzes Wochenende lang. Peinture et idées, couche par couche, tout le weekend. Colour, Print paste, a lot of ideas and layer after layer, and very busy students at work.

Neue Workshops für 2009 sind geplant, zu finden auf meiner website und bei den jeweiligen Veranstaltern. Des nouveaux cours pour 2009 sont à trouver sur mon site et chez les organisateurs des cours. Pêle-Mêle

Hier ein kleiner Eindruck vom Wochenende bei pêle-mêle in Leipzig. Wegen des Copyrights der Kolleginnen (die ich nicht gefragt habe, ob ich Fotos veröffentlichen darf) zeige ich hier nur, wie wunderschön die Hängung in diesem Jahr wirkte. Dank an alle Besucherinnen und Besucher für die netten Gespräche, vielen Fragen und schönen Kommentare. Und natürlich an alle Kolleginnen, die dieses Event so kostbar machen, mit ihren schönen Objekten.

Même si pêle-mêle est le titre de la petite exposition de design art, ce n'était pas du tout un pêle- mêle, au contraire, c'était une très belle possibilité de montrer ses object dans un environnement agréable et assez moderne. Comme je n'avais pas demandée aux collegues le droit de publier les photos de leurs objects, je montre seulement ma petite espace avec mes quilts.

See a small impression of our weekend called "Pêle-mêle" as small, but high quality design art exhibition. I did not asked the other artists for publishing their wonderful objects, but with the photo of my small wonderful hanging of the quilts, you may have an impression of the place, the weather and the lot of glass in this modern room. Isn't it really a great space for artquilts? Thanks to all visitors and artists being part of this event!

Ein Workshopwochenende lang drehte sich alles um Papier und Stoff, in Verbindung, in Farbe in Textur. Hier ein paar Impressionen

This weekend we worked on paper and fabric in the workshop. Connections, colours, textures. Here some visual impressions:

In der Pause ein kurzer Abstecher in die Nachbarschaft: im Leipziger Tapetenwerk findet momentan die Textilkunstausstellung "Nie den Faden verlieren" (noch bis zum nächsten Wochenende geöffnet) statt. Hier ein paar Teilnehmer im Gespräch mit Marlies Raasch, eine der Künstlerinnen und Organisatorinnen der Ausstellung.

Fortunately we had the possibility to visit the textile art exhibition "Never loose the thread..." in the neighbourhood, at the "Tapetenwerk Leipzig" a second, very interesting cultural place at Leipzig. Here some students talking with Marlies Raasch, one of the artists and curators of the exhibition.

Nach dem Besuch der Ausstellung, zurück und wieder voller Inspiration. WEiter gings mit dem Thema Verbindungen.

Retour tout le monde était plein d'inspiration. On continuait avec le sujet des connections. Back in the studio, we worked with forms and ideas of connections.

Siebdruck und StempelKurs - Surface Design workshop

Für Kurzentschlossene:

kurzfristig sind noch Plätze im Siebdruck-Färbe-Stempelkurs frei geworden. Der Kurs findet am 5.-7. Dezember statt. Wer Lust und Interesse hat, melde sich bei mir.

Der Papier-und Quilt-Kurs ist ausgebucht, wird wegen großer Nachfrage aber 2009 nochmal angeboten.

Zeichnen mit der Nähmaschine - Machine Doodling

Zeichnen, Skizzierien, Kritzeln, ... geht auch mit der Nähmaschine. Eine gutes Warming-up. Manchmal ist die Zeit begrenzt oder der Anfang fällt schwer. Wenn ich dann nicht im Atelier herumpirsche und aufräume (auch ein gutes warming up :)), setze ich mich an die Maschine zum Kritzeln. Interessant, was da so zum Vorschein kommt.

Esquisser par machine à coudre, ca va très bien... Dès fois, je n'ai pas le temps pour travailler avec soin à un grand projet ou je ne trouve pas le début pour des nouvelles idées. Dans ce cas, je m'assieds à la machine, n'importe-quoi dans ma tête, et je commence. Intéressant ce qui arrive.

Drawing, doodling... I love doing this by machine. Sewing whatever in my mind. Sometimes I don't have enough time for a big project or I don't find a starting point, then doodling by sewing is a wonderful warming up. I'm sure you know this too: being in the studio, tidy up, straighten up and clear away is a good warming up too, isn't it?

Pêle-Mêle Design Art Exhibition

Pêle-Mêle findet dieses Jahr wieder statt, diesmal jedoch nicht im Gohliser Schlösschen in Leipzig, sondern im Mediencampus Villa Ida, vis-à-vis (Menckestrasse).

Wer also ein schönes Weihnachtsgeschenk sucht,...

Hätte ich nur besser aufgepaßt - I did not pay attention

Während ich mit diesen Dingen hier beschäftigt bin,

kursieren "draussen " soooooooooo viele Nullen in Zahlen. Hätte ich nur besser aufgepaßt, als mein Sohn in der fünften Klasse all diese Milliarden und mehr- Zahlen lernen mußte!
a lot of zeros circulate "outside". I did not pay attention as my son had to learn all these billions and more at school!

Ich habe mir vorgestellt, einmal all meine kleinen Stoffstücke auf meinen Quilts zu zählen, oder die Fadenstiche, die ich beim Quilten verbrauche. Kommen da solche Summen zustande ???? Könnte meine Bernina fragen, wie oft ich sie geölt habe, da sie mir netterweise immer sagt, wann 30.000 Stiche getätigt sind und sie von mir öliges Futter verlangt. Irgendwie reizt dieses Thema zur künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung. Aber das wäre wieder ab vom Weg, aber immerhin aktuell. Ist es zukünftig wichtig genug, um dem ein Kunstwerk zu widmen?

I imagine to count all my small fabric scraps on my quilts, or the machine-quilting stitches. Could these amounts be realized? I could ask my Bernina, how much I oiled it. It counts all 30.000 stitches and then wants new oil. Anyway, this subject of financial crisis attracts, charms to be arranged in an artistic way. But it would be a turn away , surely actual. Is it important enough for future, to donate this subject an artistic work?

Kontinuität ist schwer durchzuhalten durch die vielen Reisen. Ich habe den Faden nicht verloren, ob er rot ist, weiss ich nicht...

Garder la continuité est difficile si on voyage. Je n'ai pas perdu le fil, s'il est rouge,... je ne sais pas...

Continuity is difficult to keep if travelling. I did not loose the thread, if it is read,... who knows...

Oktober : Back to work

Nach zwei Ausstellungen und vielen Kursen in Frankreich: "back to work" im Atelier. Après deux expositions et plusieures cours en France: "back to work" dans mon atelier. After two exhibitions and a lot of workshops in France: Back to work in my studio.

Besuch aus Russland Russian visitors

Atelierbesuch aus Rußland. Die Quilterinnen kommen aus unterschiedlichen Städten Rußlands und sind anläßlich einer gemeinsamen Ausstellung in Leipzig. Bei dem Besuch konnte ich viel über die Quilts und Quilterinnen aus Rußland erfahren und es war ein sehr netter Vormittag.

Studio visitors from Russia. The quilters came from several towns in Russia. They are working in a cooperation project with german quilters and a common show, which starts here at Leipzig. I learned a lot of the russian quilts and quilters. It was a pleasure to meet each other.

Nouvelles de France und QuiltingArts Magazine

European Patchwork Meeting - Workshops

Immer wieder eine wunderbare Erfahrung, mit Menschen aus allen Teilen Europas zusammenzuarbeiten. Vielen Dank an die unermüdlichen Teilnehmerinnen für diese kreativen Tage! Hier ein paar Workshopeindrücke.
